Porting

How long will it take to port my number?

Typically it takes less than 21 days to port a number.

Do I need to cancel my service with my previous provider?

It is very important that you do not cancel your phone service with your previous provider if you are keeping your same number. Your account with the previous provider will automatically be cancelled when your number ports.

You will want to cancel your previous internet and/or cable provider at the time of installation.

How do I know when my number has been ported?

Your previous phone provider will send you a final bill. At this point your phone number has been ported to Nuvont.

Do you run new lines through my house during installation?

As much as possible we will use existing lines for your telephones. We will run one CAT5 internet line to a point of your choosing. Additional lines will add to the size and complexity of an install, but our trained technicians are experts in clean, quick, professional installation.

Do I need special phones for Nuvont’s service?

All of your current phones will work with our service; you will not need to buy any new phones.

Do I need a modem for my computer?

No modem is needed. The internet connection goes directly through an Ethernet connection from the wall to the computer.

Can I keep my existing telephone number?

Yes. We can port your phone number from your current provider. Just give us the information and we’ll take care of the rest. If you decide to keep your number there will be a $29.99 porting fee. Many of our customers choose to get a new number. There will be no cost for a new phone number.

Do you hook up the internet to all of the computers in my house?

It is your choice how many computers in your home will have access to the internet. We hardwire (run a direct line) to the main computer. From there you have a few options. The best option is to purchase a wireless router and run your network wireless. The other option is to run lines to each computer you want directly connected. We can run lines to additional computers at a rate of $50.00 each.

How do you bill?

We will email your monthly statement. We have simplified the payment process through a monthly auto-pay. Any major Credit Card or a checking account can be set up for your monthly payment.

How long does the installation take?

Because we want everything to work perfectly and be professional, the installation process is no small task. You can expect the normal install to take 2 to 4 hours.

Do I need to be there during installation?

Installation is a two step process that will require two separate days. The first stage will include the installation of a box within the home. During the second stage we run the wires through the house and to the phone box. Someone over the age of 18 is required to be there during the entire process of both installations.

Does each TV need a receiver?

In order to translate the light signal as it comes across the network we use a set top box with each TV. A line will be run to each set top box, which will then connect to your TV.

Can I use my phone/internet/television at the same time?

Yes. Fiber optics allow for large amounts of data, whether that is video, data or voice.
